Thousands of F1 fans made their annual pilgrimage to the Silverstone circuit. But it could be one of the last times they see the British Grand Prix at the Northamptonshire race track.

Silverstone's owners the British Racing Drivers Club recently revealed they have triggered a clause to pull out of hosting the race after 2019 because of the cost of staging it.

Security has been stepped up at this year's race over concerns about recent terrorist attacks.

Police have dealt with missing persons, public disorder, drunkenness, and theft, however officers say they have mainly encountered well-behaved, excited racegoers.

“We have a prepared a very comprehensive security operation for this event, but we would urge anyone who thinks they see something suspicious to report it immediately to police or circuit security so we can react quickly and appropriately."
