A spate of handbag thefts targeting women of all ages in Peterborough has prompted a warning from police.
Over the last month, women have had their bags stolen seven times - with three of those incidents taking place in the last week.
The victims have ranged in age from women in their 20s to their 80s.
The most recent thefts were:
- On Wednesday, July 19, a woman in her 50s was in Morrisons supermarket in Lincoln Road when her handbag was taken from her trolley between 4.50pm and 5.20pm.
- Earlier that day, between 11am and 11.15am, a woman in her 70s was targeted at the Bretton Centre retail park. She realised her bag was missing as she reached the tills of Poundland.
- On Monday, July 17, a woman in her 40s was in Tesco at Staniland Way in Werrington. She had left the store to return her trolley when she noticed her bag had been taken.
Other thefts, which began on June 23, have taken place at PKai Hair at Westgate, Taverner's Road, and St Peter and All Souls Church at Geneva Street - where a woman in her 80s had her orange handbag stolen as she left.
