Ipswich Town have confirmed that highly-rated midfielder Andre Dozzell is likely to miss the rest of the season after tearing his cruciate knee ligament.

The 18-year-old suffered the injury during Ipswich's 1-0 win over Birmingham City at the weekend.

Dozzell was part of the England under 19s side that won the European Championship earlier this summer and was hoping to become a first team regular at Portman Road this season.

However, he'll now undergo surgery next week before starting the nine-month recovery process.

I saw Dozzer and he was very down. He is bound to be.

It’s the season out for him and it’s very disappointing, for us but especially for Dozzer. He will get looked after well by our medical staff and we wish him as quick a recovery as possible.
