A man from Colchester has been jailed for assaulting his wife during an armed police stand-off - after she failed a Jeremy Kyle lie detector test.
Alan Kent, 38, locked himself and his wife Louise inside their home before threatening to kill himself because she'd cheated on him.
Officers spent a number of hours negotiating with Kent, who was hanging out of an upstairs window, and reportedly had two children inside the house at the time.
The stand-off took place shortly after Kent appeared on ITV's Jeremy Kyle Show, suspecting his 26-year-old wife Louise was having a three-month affair behind his back.
She denied she was having an affair and said she made it all up as Alan kept accusing her.
But months later, armed police were called to the couple's home in Colchester.
Following the stand-off and arrest, Kent was charged with assaulting his wife and a police constable, and obstructing a police constable.
He appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court where he admitted the charges.
He was jailed for 16 weeks, fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 in costs.
He was also told he must complete a 30-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement to help him address his behaviour.
