Police in Essex have confirmed they're treating the death of a driver on the M11 as suspicious.

A man in his 60s died when his van left the road and hit a tree on the northbound carriageway near Bishop's Stortford just before 5pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers think that an object, believed to be a "large block of concrete or stone", struck his windscreen and want to speak to drivers who saw anyone acting suspiciously on the Goose Lane bridge near the village of Little Hallingbury.

Police have told ITV News Anglia they're treating the suggestion that the object was thrown from the bridge as a "serious line of inquiry."

They're also keen to hear from anyone who was driving on the road between 4pm and 6pm - particularly anyone with dash cam footage.
