A hapless robber who was caught after he left his glasses at the scene of the crime has been jailed for seven years.
The court heard Wesley Grinham had a habit of losing his glasses, and claimed he'd had lost eight pairs in the space of a year.
Grinham, 31, from Wixams in Bedfordshire was found guilty of robbery after a four day trial at Luton Crown Court.
He stole £70,000 from a man who'd just sold his house after breaking the window of his car and demanding the cash.
After the robbery the victim noticed a pair of glasses in the car that didn’t belong to him.
He gave them to police and DNA tests matched a sample from Grinham.
In interview, Grinham told officers that he had lost around eight pairs of glasses in the past year, but suggested that someone else must have used a pair as a disguise to commit the robbery.
He was also found guilty of two counts of possession of class A drugs, and was sentenced to a further 12 months imprisonment to run concurrently.
