The completion of One Angel Square has seen county council staff moved out of 12 buildings in Northampton, including County Hall, into one purpose-built office in the town centre.

It's expected the new building will save £51 million in running costs alone over the next 30 years with further savings associated with the sale of buildings and the end of leases.

The new building has faced months of delays and there have been concerns among staff about the a hot-desk layout inside.

"On some level it's lovely and works for some people but for a lot of employees the building doesn't work, they can't find somewhere to work in the morning."

"It takes them 20 minutes out of their working day to set up and it's just not practical for them so they wouldn't see today as a celebration at all."
