Police hunt white van after shooting in Kettering

Detectives in Northamptonshire are hunting for a white van after a shooting in Kettering on Saturday 14th October.

The believe the van with the registration YD52 NGM, is linked to the incident which happened at 4.45pm in Field Street.

Witnesses say the gunman got out of a vehicle and shot the man before speeding away, the victim has since had to have his leg amputated.

Local newsagent, Jay Goswami told ITV News Anglia that he had called the police after hearing a "really loud bang".

"I heard a really loud noise, like a gun shot. When I popped out there was a white van parked there and a guy was collapsing on the floor. He had blood around his leg area.

Detectives have released two CCTV pictures showing a white van, which they are keen to identify.

They are asking any witnesses who may have seen the van around the Kettering and Burton Latimer areas between Saturday and Sunday lunchtime to come forward.

"This was an extremely serious incident and we have a team of officers who are working to secure as much evidence as possible. We are treating this as an isolated shooting and wish to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are extremely rare.”

Police are now questioning five men, aged 32, 35, 38, 45 and 60 as well as a 28-year-old woman.
