Homeless people to be offered free flu vaccinations

Flu can be potentially 'life-threatening'

A project is underway to help homeless people in Luton get flu vaccinations.

It is the first time a drop-in clinic has been offered to those on the street who may not otherwise be registered with a doctor.

Dr Chirag Bakhai, Luton's Clinical Director for Planned Care, said: "When the weather turns cold, the consequences can be potentially life threatening for Luton's homeless.

"Offering flu vaccinations and providing health assessments to this particularly vulnerable population is a valuable step towards protecting their health this winter."
