Ipswich Town have been dealt a big blow with the news that midfielder Emyr Huws has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The Welsh international tore his cartilage during last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough and has since undergone surgery.
The 24-year-old moved to Portman Road on a permanent deal in the summer after impressing on loan last season, but missed most of the first half of the current campaign with an Achilles problem.
Manager Mick McCarthy had been looking forward to reintegrating him back into the squad, but will now have to use other options.
“It’s obviously very disappointing for us but even more so for Emyr," McCarthy said.
“We know the quality he brings to the team and he will be missed.”
