MK Dons manager Robbie Neilson has left the League One club by mutual consent.

The Dons have only won one of their last 11 games, and dropped into the relegation zone with a 2-1 defeat at Northampton Town on Saturday.

It brings to an end a 13-month stay at Stadium MK for Neilson, 37, who joined from Scottish side Hearts in December 2016.

Neilson's assistant Stevie Crawford and coach Neil MacFarlane have also been dismissed.

In a statement, a club spokesperson confirmed the decision was made following a meeting between Neilson and chairman Pete Winkelman on Saturday evening.

"Robbie, Stevie and Neil have all been totally dedicated to MK Dons, working tirelessly throughout their 13 months at Stadium MK," the statement read.

"We thank them and everyone at the Football Club wishes them every success in the future."

It's not yet been confirmed who will take care of the team while a successor is found, but the likes of Mark Warburton and Simon Grayson are among the early favourites to land the job on a permanent basis.
