Driver in hospital after train hits car at Suffolk level crossing

A driver is being treated in hospital after a train hit a car at a level crossing in Suffolk last night.

An investigation is under way and emergency services have been working to reopen the line between Felixstowe and Derby Road.

The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.

It happened at around 8pm last night (March 14) at Routs Crossing, Ipswich, and involved a freight train.

British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: Medics from the ambulance service also attended and the driver of the vehicle is being treated in hospital. The incident is being investigated by officers from British Transport Police and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch.
