An Aldi supermarket in Bedfordshire has been targeted by ram-raiders.
A blue Land Rover, which police believe was stolen, was driven into the front of the store on Bonds Lane in Biggleswade at around 3am on Monday morning, causing considerable damage.
The thieves then fled in a metallic blue Audi after failing to remove the cash machine.
The raid came just a few hours before a similar incident in Newmarket in which a stolen 4x4 was used to to steal a cash machine from a shopping centre in the town.
It's not yet known whether the two incidents are linked.
"We believe there were around five people involved in the ram raid, which caused a lot of damage to the premises. We are keen to trace the people responsible and believe there may have been members of the public in the area at the time of the incident," Detective Constable Andy Boston from Bedfordshire Police said.
“If you were in the area at the time of the incident and you saw anything unusual, or you recall seeing vehicles matching the descriptions of the vehicles used, please come forward. We would like to hear from anyone who may have any information about this incident, no matter how small.”
