Norwich City midfielder James Maddison is set to be sidelined for two months following knee ligament damage that he suffered against Sheffield Wednesday on the final day of the season.

It was first feared that Maddison's injury was a serious one and he left Hillsborough on crutches.

However after a scan it has been revealed that the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy winner will not need an operation and will return sooner than expected.

James has had an outstanding season, with 15 goals and eight assists to his name. To get this injury in our very last game is really bad luck for him, but he’s a positive, dedicated young professional and he will be working hard with everybody’s support to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.

On a positive note the injury is not as bad as we had first feared it might be and thankfully no operation is needed. All being well, James will be fighting fit and ready to come back early in our pre-season schedule.
