Nick Pope, who was brought up in Soham, Cambridgeshire, is off to Russia as part of the England World Cup squad.

Pope had his first call-up to the England squad for friendly against Italy in March but didn't play.

He was signed as a boy footballer at Ipswich Town but released at age 16. He now plays for Premier League Burnley.

Richard Wilkins was Nick coach when he played in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and was also his teacher at West Suffolk College.

He said he worked very hard and it was difficult to get him off the training ground at college
