Drivers faced delays around Stansted Airport this morning after a lorry fire on the M11 northbound.
The Fire Service was called just after 5pm yesterday afternoon (19 July) after a lorry carrying around 45 tonnes of hay caught fire between Junction 8 (Stansted) and Junction 9 (Royston).
The road was closed for more than 15 hours, and opened just after 8.30am following emergency resurfacing work.
Airports in the region are expecting a busy weekend with 148,000 passengers departing from Stansted and 88,000 from Luton Airport.
Crews will remain on scene to continue dampening down the hay and assist police with the clear up operation.
An investigation will take place to determine the cause of the fire.
