Teens in Luton found with a sword, machete and knife

A sweep of Luton by specialist gang and gun police officers uncovered drugs, a machete, sword and knife.

Bedfordshire Police's Boson team arrested five teenagers on Thursday August 9.

The operation tackling knife crime and serious youth crime targeted hotspots around the town.

  • A 17-year-old boy was found him with a sword hidden in his trousers on Macaulay Road;
  • two 18-year-old men were found in possession of a machete and a lock knife in Lewsey Farm;
  • and an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were found in possession of class B drugs in Lewsey Farm.

“This was a hugely effective operation which involved a number of the force’s teams, including our community officers, and was only possible thanks to an increase in engagement from our communities."
