An IVF clinic in Cambridge is to become the first in the UK to routinely freeze embryos.

Cambridge IVF say the technique increases the chances of patients becoming pregnant by 52.2%.

They found freezing gives the opportunity to transfer selected embryos at the best time for the patient.

The technique also eliminates some of the side effects associated with IVF drugs.

The clinic works closely with Addenbrooke’s teaching hospital and the Rosie Maternity Hospital

“It seems appropriate that we are able to offer additional services in the year that Britain’s first test tube baby Louise Brown celebrates her 40th birthday and the NHS celebrates its 70th anniversary."
