Rod Stewart fans have the chance to own some of their favourite singer's flamboyant furnishings, as items from his Durrington House mansion are sold off today.

Among the handbags and the gladrags up for auction in Stansted Mountfitchet, are a pair of bronze-mounted side tables, a teak lounge armchair with leopard print cushion and a gold statue of a man playing a banjo.

John Black, Director at Sworders Auctioneers, said: "The sale today, we've got 40 lots from sir Rod Stewart.

"I think the highlight would be the leopard print arm chair, we've had huge amounts of interest in that."
