Desperate appeal for funding to tackle violent crime in Bedfordshire

The growing number of young people in Bedfordshire getting involved in gang culture has lead to the county's Police and Crime Commissioner making an emergency bid for more than £4.5m to crack down on gun and knife crime.

Bedfordshire has seen what's being described as "an unprecedented spend" on tackling violent crime in the county over the last two years, which senior officers say can't be covered by the force's current £93m annual budget.
