The future of Nadine Dorries, the Mid Bedfordshire MP, is uncertain this morning following her temporary suspension from the Conservative party.

It comes as she's likely to be confirmed as a contestant on the ITV show "I'm a Celebrity...Get me out of here" later today.

It's thought she will remain suspended until her return from the Australian jungle, pending an urgent meeting with Chief Whip, Sir George Young. She could be away from her constituency for up to a month.

A barrage of criticism for Mid-Bedfordshire MP who is off to the jungle

Nadine Dorries, the Conservative MP for Mid Bedfordshire, has tonight been suspended from the parliamentary party after becoming the first serving MP to take part in the programme. She's justified her decision by saying it's a way to reach out to 16 million viewers.

The contestants are expected to be officially named tomorrow.
