The Anglia region faced its first bite of winter last weekend with bitter winds and sub-zero temperatures. On Wednesday snow arrived in parts of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex.

The first significant snow of the winter has fallen in some parts of the Anglia region and further wintry showers are forecast for Wednesday.

Snow in the East
There has been a wintry start to the morning thanks to a band of rain and snow spreading across the region from the north. It will slowly brighten up, although further wintry showers are likely by lunchtime.
There will be sunshine and scattered wintry showers this afternoon. It should feel cold in the northerly wind, with highs of just five Celsius (41 Fahrenheit).

The Government says it's getting ready to issue cold weather payments for those in most need. The one off sums of £25 cover weeks when the average temperature is below freezing 7 days in a row. They'll go to some pensioners, disabled people and families on benefits with children under 5.
Temperatures dip to -4C in the Anglia region
Early morning temperatures dipped at low as almost -4C in the Anglia region and it's set to be a chilly weekend. Even daytime temperature aren't expected to rise much above 5C on Saturday and Sunday. The average maximum for early December is 8C
The region's lowest temperature in the early hours of Friday was -3.8C at Woburn in Bedfordshire.
