More statistics have been released following the 2011 census.
New census stats
The latest report on the 2011 national census shows that Polish is now England's second language.
Here in the East, it's the main language for sixty thousand people - that's more than those speaking Punjabi or Urdu.
Immigration from Eastern Europe over the past decade has seen Polish communities spring up across the East, with the biggest being in Luton and Peterborough. It's from there that Elodie Harper reports.
Census shows rise in Polish speaking
Across England and Wales Polish is now the second most reported main language. And it's widely spoken in the East of England too.
