The Court of Appeal has upheld a decision by the High Court to quash plans for a windfarm near to the historic Lyveden New Bield in Northamptonshire.

Campaigners win landmark windfarm battle

Local people and leading conservationists have won a landmark legal battle against an energy company over plans for a windfarm in Northamptonshire.

Four 90 metre turbines were to be built at Barnwell Manor, but the National Trust argued the windfarm would cause substantial harm to the views of a heritage area at Lyveden New Bield.

Today a Supreme Court judge agreed and quashed the original ruling, calling it "legally flawed".

Campaigners are fighting a High Court battle to stop a windfarm being built close to an Elizabethan country lodge in Northamptonshire.

English Heritage and the National Trust are concerned the construction of four wind turbines in Sudborough would cause substantial harm to Lyveden New Bield. The hearing is due to finish today.
