Investigations are continuing into the cause of a house fire in Milton Keynes in which seven people were forced to flee to safety.

The blaze gutted the house at Two Mile Ash and destroyed two cars parked on the drive. Police say they won't rule out arson.

Det Insp Phil Hayes of Thames Valley Police said:

"The property is currently cordoned off and is likely to remain so for the next couple of days while enquiries are being made. If anyone has information which may assist our investigation, we would encourage them to come forward."

Police have yet to rule out arson after house fire

Police have launched an arson investigation after a fire destroyed a house in Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes.

The blaze gutted the house and destroyed two vehicles outside.

Det Insp Phil Hayes of Thames Valley Police said:

The property is currently cordoned off and is likely to remain so for the next couple of days while enquiries are being made. The initial response involved some road closures in the area which have now been lifted.

“If anyone has information which may assist our investigation, we would encourage them to come forward.

Seven people have escaped from a fire which destroyed a house in Milton Keynes.

The blaze broke out yesterday afternoon at the two storey detached house in Two Mile Ash. The fire spread quickly causing damage to not only the house but three cars parked on the driveway.

Group Manager Ian Taylor said: "Following a large number of 999 calls it was established that seven people were in the building at the time of the fire. All seven who evacuated the premises did so from both ground and first floors without injury as smoke detection was present."

Volunteers from the British Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Service attended in the evening to provide to support to the occupants.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and Thames Valley Police are investigating the cause of the fire, which has left parts of the house unstable.
