A man is due to appear in court tomorrow in connection with a murder in Chelmsford.

Police discovered a man’s body inside a flat on Moulsham Street shortly after 12:30am on Saturday.

A provisional post-mortem examination result showed Paul Simons, 54, from Hertfordshire died from stab wounds.

Michael Brennan, of The Green, Melbourne in Chelmsford is charged with one count of murder and was detained in police custody prior to his appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates yesterday.

He was then remanded in court custody until his appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court tomorrow.

Police are expected to name today a man whose body was found in a house in Chelmsford.

Officers were called to the property on Moulsham Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. He's believed to have been in his 40s and from Essex.

A 22 year old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned at Chelmsford police station.
