Servitude trial: Father and son jailed

A father and son from Bedfordshire who forced destitute men into servitude have been jailed.

Tommy Connors Senior, 53, was jailed for eight years and his son Patrick, 21, for five years at Luton Crown Court.

The pair, from the Greenacres site in Little Billington, Leighton Buzzard, had been convicted last July of servitude, compulsory labour and assault charges after a trial at the court.

and two more of Connors Senior's sons James Connors, 25, and Tommy Junior Connors, 27.

A jury at Luton Crown Court was discharged after failing to reach verdicts on any of the charges against the four men, Bedfordshire Police said.

The jury failed toi reach a decision on any of the charges facing the four men.

Tommy Connors Sr and his three sons Tommy Jr, Patrick and James, of the Greenacres Travellers site near Leighton Buzzard were faced with three charges of conspiring to hold a person in servitude and three charges of conspiring to require a person to perform forced labour.

The jury had been deliberating for nearly three days before making a request to speak to the judge. The jury informed the judge that their was nio prospect of reaching a decision on any of the charges.
