Man bailed in fatal fire investigation

A 58-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder after a fire in Milton Keynes has been released on bail.

Police were called to St Leger Court in Great Linford Sunday night after fire crews discovered a woman's body inside.

The death remains unexplained at this time and the results of a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive. Further tests will now be carried out.

Thames Valley Police is continuing its enquiries at the scene of a fatal fire in Milton Keynes.

The body of a woman was found by emergency services inside a property in St Leger Court, Great Linford, following a fire on Sunday evening.

A post-mortem examination was carried out by a Home Office pathologist last night. The results were inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Ch Insp Gill Wootton said: “The lady who tragically died in this fire was middle-aged.

“While she has not been formally identified, we believe we know who she is and have located her next of kin. They are being kept updated on the progress of our investigation.

“Enquiries will continue at the property throughout today as we work towards establishing the cause of the fire and a scene guard remains in place.”

Murder inquiry following fatal flat fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal fire at a flat in Milton Keynes after neighbours called the emergency services on Sunday night.

Crews worked into the night to put out the flames but later found a body inside. Detectives are now investigating how the blaze began.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a house fire in Milton Keynes.

The emergency services were called to a blaze in St Leger Court in Great Linford just before 8pm on Sunday night.

The occupant was found dead at the scene. Nearby properties were evacuated by fire crews.

A 57-year-old man is currently in police custody.
