Elderly man was killed by smoke inhalation in house fire

A man found dead in a house in Stanton in Suffolk died as a result of smoke inhalation, a post mortem has found.

The blaze broke out at around 4am on Monday June 10 in Drovers Rise. The body of a man, who was believed to be his eighties, was found inside.

Following an investigation into the cause of the blaze the death is no longer being treated as unexplained and no other party is thought to have been involved.

The death will now be referred to the coroner.

Police and firefighters are continuing to investigate a fire in a bungalow which killed a man in Suffolk.

Fire crews were called to a residential park in Stanton near Bury St Edmunds in the early hours of Monday morning.

12 nearby residents were told to leave their homes in the early hours but were allowed back later.

A man's been killed and a number of homes have been evacuated following a fire at a bungalow near Bury St Edmunds.

The emergency services have been at Drovers Rise in Stanton since around 4 o'clock on Monday morning. The area is currently cordoned off - affecting up to 12 residents.

An investigation has started into what caused the fire.

Emergency services at scene of fatal fire near Bury St Edmunds

A person has been killed and a number of homes have been evacuated following a fire at a bungalow near Bury St Edmunds.

The emergency services have been at Drovers Rise, Stanton, since around 4am. They were called by a resident who reported flames coming from a bungalow.

A number of homes in the area have been evacuated for safety, affecting around 10 to 12 residents. The fire service is currently making the scene safe before residents are allowed to return to their homes.

Enquiries will now get underway at the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Suffolk Police on 101.
