Great Yarmouth is to get a new £11 million centre to train people to work in the energy sector. The Anglia region is a centre for wind power and for offshore gas fields but needs more skilled workers.

Blair Ainslie, chairman of the Skills for Energy partnership which is part of the East of England Energy Group, said: "The ultimate goal is for local people to be trained locally for careers in a local industry."

It's hoped building work will start in spring 2014 and it's being funded with private and public money. It is expected to cost £6m to build and will house £5m worth of equipment, much of it already pledged. The complex will have conference, classroom and workshop facilities on site
