Recent figures show that the number of employees aged 65 or older in the UK has risen to above a million for the first time. It seems that employers are increasingly turning to older workers, and now a new study suggests there's good reason for it.
Research carried out by the University of Essex for Age UK found that, while older workers may work slower than their younger counterparts, their skills, experience and productivity make up for it.
Emma Baker spoke to Chris Brooks from Age UK, the charity that carried out this research and he began by telling her that, despite the findings, many people were still being held back by negative stereotypes of older workers.
