Traffic restrictions in Colchester town centre that were suspended earlier in the year after protests, have been reintroduced.
The plans have now been modified to allow vehicles to continue accessing the high street.
It's hoped they strike a balance between giving shoppers a better experience and allowing drivers the ability to park close to shops.
There's now a 24 hour bus lane going up North Hill, one on the High street as you turn to Queen street and another on Middleborough as you turn right to North Hill.
They will be in operation seven days a week and will be monitored by automatic number plate recognition cameras. If successful, steps will be taken to make them permanent.
When the Council tried to stop cars and delivery vans driving through Colchester town centre six months ago, protests forced it to reverse the decision.
Now traffic restrictions are back, but can the modified plans can strike a balance between reducing congestion and keeping shoppers happy.
