The General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union has announced that firefighters are set to stage another strike on Wednesday 13 November, as their dispute with the government over pensions rumbles on.

Region braced for fresh fire strike

Firefighters are warning people over firework and bonfire displays as they prepare to go on strike.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union will walk out this evening, in a row over changes to their pensions.

Brigades in this region say back-up plans are in place to deal with life-threatening emergencies, but warn people shouldn't expect a full service.

The strike comes in the run up to Guy Fawkes Night - one of the busiest times of the year for the service.

People are being warned over firework and bonfire displays this evening, as firefighters prepare to go on strike in a row over pensions.

Brigades in this region say back-up plans are in place to deal with life-threatening emergencies, but warn people shouldn't expect a full service.

Maurice Moore, from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, has urged organisers to consider delaying their bonfire displays.

Fire and rescue services around the region say plans are in place to deal with a planned strike this evening by members of the Fire Brigades' Union.

Senior officers say major incidents will be dealt with but they're warning that they will not be able to provide normal levels of cover.

The strike is due to start at 6.30 and last until 11.
