A 19 year old man is due in court today charged with murder after the death of a two-year-old girl at Yaxley in Cambridgeshire. The toddler, named as Amina Agboola, died on Thursday after being taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.

Dean Harris is due to appear before Cambridge Crown Court this morning.

A man appeared in court today charged with murder after the death of a two-year-old girl in Cambridgeshire. Dean Harris, 19, of Scott Drive, Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, was remanded in custody by Peterborough magistrates until Monday.

The toddler, who been named as Amina Agboola, died on Thursday after being taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.

A 28-year-old woman, believed to be the girl's mother, was also arrested and has been released on police bail.

Harris is understood to be the mother's partner.

The couple were arrested after taking the girl to hospital themselves.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a toddler after she was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The girl, aged two, died at Peterborough City Hospital yesterday afternoon.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Scenes-of-crimes officers are currently at a house in Yaxley on the outskirts of Peterborough.

A 28-year-old woman, believed to be the girl's mother, and her 19-year-old boyfriend have been arrested and are being held in custody at Thorpe Wood police station, Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Police are continuing to investigate the death of the toddler:

"The child had been taken to hospital at 11am with serious injuries but died shortly before 1pm."
