An Italian woman who was forced by a court to have a caesarean before Essex Social Services took her newborn baby into care, is fighting in the courts to get her child back.
The High Court made the ruling in August last year and now a top Judge has said he will preside over future hearings.
The woman hasn't been named and has bipolar disorder. She was at Stansted Airport when she was detained under the Mental Health Act in June 2012.
In August the High Court ruled that a caesarean section could take place.
Essex County Council then applied for the baby to be taken into care.
In October this year Essex County Council obtained permission from the County Court to place the child up for adoption.
It's thrown up questions about the letter of the law and the power local authorities have to take away children.
