Police confirm two men from Great Yarmouth reported as missing

Norfolk Police have confirmed that two men from the Great Yarmouth area have been reported missing. It comes as searches continue at Lowestoft this morning. One man was pulled from the sea but later died after a boat capsized yesterday afternoon

Police say searches of the area by the coastguard and lifeboats have continued since then, following reports that there may have been two other men aboard the boat on a fishing trip.

Coastguard rescue teams from Lowestoft and Southwold have started a shoreline search along the Suffolk coast after two people are thought to be missing at sea.

One man died after a speedboat capsized off Ness Point in Lowestoft on Monday and it's feared two other may have also gone into the water.

Three lifeboats and a helicopter spent more than ten hours in a search operation at sea on Monday afternoon and evening. The overturned boat was recovered by coastguard rescue officers and fire crews.

There are no plans to resume a sea search on Tuesday.

Investigations will continue tomorrow to find out if anyone else was onboard a boat which capsized off the coast at Lowestoft.

One man’s body has been recovered from the water.

He has not yet been named. The capsized boat has this evening been recovered at Kessingland south of Lowestoft

Suffolk Police have confirmed that a man has died following an incident off the coast at Lowestoft.

Around 2pm a police officer in Whapload Road was flagged down by a member of the public who reported they could see a person in the sea off Wilde Street, near the sea wall at Ness Point.

The coastguard were alerted, the lifeboat attended and around 2.25pm a man was located in the water. Attempts were made to revive him but he was pronounced deceased just after 3pm. He has been taken to the James Paget Hospital.

Police are working to trace his next of kin and are also making enquiries to determine if he was on a boat that capsized and, if so, whether there was anyone else on board the vessel. A boat is being recovered from the sea by the coastguard and lifeboat.

The police helicopter and an RAF search & rescue helicopter have been used to carry out searches of the water to assist the coastguard and see if anyone else could be spotted but there have been no further sightings.

One man has been pulled from the sea and there's a search for others after reports of an overturned boat off Ness Point in Lowestoft.

Lifeboats from the town along with craft from neighbouring Gorleston and Southwold stations have been called to the scene.

The Coastguard is coordinating a major search off Lowestoft after reports of an overturned boat.

Humber Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public just before 2pm reporting a person in the water and an overturned boat at Ness Point.

RNLI lifeboats from Lowestoft, Southwold and Gorleston, along with Lowestoft Coastguard Rescue Team and Suffolk Police are on scene. An RAF rescue helicopter is also attending. A commercial windfarm vessel which was in the area is assisting.
