Former N-Dubz singer Dappy has been ordered to pay £1,810 in fines and costs after he was found guilty of assaulting a man in an Essex nightclub.

The 27-year-old, who was tried under his real name Dino Costas Contostavlos, denied attacking George Chittock at Chicago's in Chelmsford.

But he was convicted by magistrates at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court and fined £800. He's also been ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and costs of £930.

Former N-Dubz singer Dappy has been found guilty of assaulting a man in a nightclub in Chelmsford.

The 27-year-old, who appeared under his real name Dino Costas Contostavlos, had denied attacking George Chittock during a public appearance at Chicago's nightclub.

Chair of the bench Angela Tucker said the magistrates had found Contostavlos was not under any physical threat at the time of the incident.

He held is head in his hands as the verdict was delivered.

Magistrates in Chelmsford have retired to consider their verdict in the trial of former N-Dubz singer Dappy over a nightclub assault.

The 27-year-old, who appears under his real name Dino Costas Contostavlos, is accused of attacking George Chittock in the early hours of February 27.

The singer claimed he was acting in self-defence after being abused three times during a public appearance at Chicago's in Chelmsford, Essex.

He has denied assault by beating in a two-day trial at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.

Contostavlos, of St Albans, Hertfordshire, stood in the dock in a white shirt, black trousers and black trainers as the charge was read to him.

He was granted unconditional bail and will stand trial at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on June 18.

The former N-Dubz singer finished in second place on reality show Celebrity Big Brother in January.

The 26-year-old, whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, is accused of attacking the man in the early hours of February 27 after he made an appearance at Chicago's nightclub in Chelmsford, Essex.

He pleaded not guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court to one count of assault by beating.

Essex Police said the alleged attack happened outside a nightclub in the early hours of February 27.

He was arrested after an appearance at Chicago's nightclub in the city, and charged with assault by beating.

The 26-year-old, whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, was granted bail ahead of the hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.

Dappy finished in second place on reality show Celebrity Big Brother in January.
