Murder hunt after man stabbed 102 times

Police in Colchester have launched a murder hunt after a frenzied attack on a vulnerable man. James Attfield, 33, from East Bay in Colchester, was struck down in Castle Park early on Saturday morning; he suffered 102 knife wounds.

Colchester murder victim was local man in 30s

Essex Police say a man found dying of head injuries in Colchester was local, and in his 30s.

He was found in Lower Castle Park early today.

A police cordon has been established covering a greensward and a footpath running alongside Wakefield Close and Riverside Place. The rest of the park is open.

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate is investigating the death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the North Major Investigation Team on 01206 576845, 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Murder probe after man dies of head injuries

Police have launched a murder enquiry following the discovery of a man with head injuries in Lower Castle Park in Colchester. The man was found by a member of the public just before 5.45am this morning. Paramedics treated him at the scene, but he was pronounced dead at about 6.30am.

A police cordon has been established near to Wakefield Close and the park is currently closed. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate is investigating the death.Anyone with information is asked to contact the North Major Investigation Team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
