Chief Constable Simon Parr has paid tribute to a detective who was killed in a road collision on Friday.

"Detective Constable Sharon Garrett was an exceptional police officer and will be truly missed by all of the many friends and colleagues who she had within the constabulary.

"The death of Sharon in such tragic circumstances is so incredibly sad. My condolences and heartfelt sympathy go to her husband, children and immediate family but also to the many friends and colleagues who will feel the loss of such an exceptional person."

Woman killed in road collision was Cambridgeshire police officer

A woman killed in a road collision on Friday in Cambridgeshire was a serving police officer.

DC Sharon Garrett, 48, died after the Renault Clio she was driving was involved in a collision with two other cars and two lorries on the A141 at 4.35pm.

The 26-year-old driver of one of the lorries, a man from King's Lynn, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

She leaves her husband, Adrian, who is also a serving Cambridgeshire police officer and their two children.
