Traffic is slow and a road is blocked due to a collision involving a car and a lorry on A12 Northbound between A138 J19 / A130 Colchester Road / B1137 Main Road / Generals Lane (Boreham Interchange) and J20A B1137 (Hatfield Peverel South).

A12 Main Road both ways blocked due to broken down car and caravan on the level crossing between The Street and Westleton Road.The barriers have come down between the car and caravan at the Darsham crossing, they remain in the down position and recovery may take some time.

Woman dies after struck by car on A12

A woman has died after she was struck by a car on the A12, near Marks Tey, Essex.

The woman, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene after she was hit by a white Toyota Auris at around 1am Saturday.

The driver of the car, a 44-year-old woman, from Marks Tey, was treated for shock by paramedics.

A police spokesman said: "We believe the woman walked off from a Seat Ibiza she had been travelling in.

"Its driver had stopped in a layby. We're looking to speak with those motorists who saw this woman on the side of the A12 or actually in the road."

A section of the carriageway was closed until 8am while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.

Investigation after fatal crash in Essex

Road policing officers in Essex are investigating after a fatal road crash in north-east Essex which forced the closure of the A12 for seven hours.

The collision happened near Marks Tey when the woman was struck by a white Toyota Auris on the southbound carriageway at 1am on Saturday, August 11.

"We believe the woman walked off from a Seat Ibiza she had been travelling in. Its driver had stopped in a layby. We’re looking to speak with those motorists who saw this woman on the side of the A12 or actually in the road.”

The 29-year-old woman from the Romford area was certified dead at the scene. The 44-year-old female car driver, who lives in the Marks Tey area, was treated for shock by paramedics at the scene.

A section of the carriageway was closed until 8am while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.
