Firm fined over death of farmer's son

Hall Farm in Fincham

A Norfolk company's been fined 50 thousand pounds for safety offences after a farmer's son died whilst cleaning a grain silo.

Arthur Mason who was 21 died at Hall Farm in Fincham near Swaffham in 2014.

Maurice Mason Ltd which is owned by Arthur's father Hugh father, were sentenced at Norwich Crown Court.

The health and safety executive called the young man's death a tragic and avoidable incident.

Motorcyclist dies in Northampton

A motorcyclist has died following a collision in the Sixfields area of Northampton.

Just after 1pm on Tuesday afternoon a Honda scooter, ridden by a 67-year-old Northampton man, collided with a lamppost in Edgar Mobbs Way.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and police are appealing for anyone who was in the area to come forward.

Cyclist's leg broken in crash

Police in Essex are seeking the driver of a car which collided with a cyclist on Highland Avenue in Brentwood this morning, leaving her with a broken leg. The 17 year old's bike was clipped by a car, causing her to fall off. The car did not stop, and police are keen to speak to the driver.
