The sister of a DJ from Suffolk, who drowned after jumping from a bridge into a reservoir has warned of the dangers of open water.
For the eighth year, thousands have swum a mile or more at the Great East Swim in Alton Water near Ipswich
2,000 people donned wetsuits and took part in the Great East Swim in Alton Water.
The Great East Swim was officially launched this morning in Suffolk.
The event in June will see thousands of swimmers take the plunge at Alton Water Reservoir near Ipswich.
Swimmers can chose from a half mile, to 5km swim, with thousands of pounds raised for charity at the same time.
Nearly two thousand people took part in the Great East swim - among them two Olympic swimmers who are hoping to go for gold in the open water events at London 2012.

The Great East Swim attracted thousands of spectators on Sunday, after a forecast for strong winds forced it to be delayed by a day.
