Energy Secretary talks to ITV News Anglia about collective switching schemes

The Energy Secretary Ed Davey has been speaking to ITV News Anglia about collective switching schemes, which many councils are now using to help people save money on their energy bills.

Using the free schemes people can join a collective bargaining group, who go straight to energy suppliers for a better deal. The average saving is £150 a year.

Councils go collective to help with energy bills

With spring just around the corner many people will be glad to see the back of a pretty chilly winter, and especially those who are struggling to pay their energy bills.

With this in mind more and more councils in our region are doing their bit to help people. One example is a free service which asks people to join a collective bargaining group, then goes straight to energy suppliers on people's behalf to get a better deal. The average saving is £150 a year.

ITV News Anglia's Luke Farrington has been seeing if people are getting value for money.
