Smell leads police to cannabis factory in Essex

The smell of 120 cannabis plants led police to this warehouse in Essex.

Officers visited the site at Brick End in Dunmow on Monday after receiving a call from a member of the public.

Police searched the warehouse and found a number of rooms where cannabis could be grown - and a substantial amount of the drug drying out.

Nobody was found at the site but officers described the set-up as "very professional". They are appealing for witnesses.

Police in Essex have arrested a man after cannabis plants were found near Braintree.

A 54-year-old man has been released on police bail after officers executed of a drugs warrant on The Street in Stisted.

Officers found 22 mature plants and nine younger cannabis plants within outbuildings at the address when they attended just after 9am on Monday 4 April.

Four arrested after cannabis factory found

Four men have been arrested after police uncovered a cannabis factory in Great Wenham, Suffolk.

Officers attended a business premises on Raydon Road on Wednesday on an unrelated matter where they discovered around 500 cannabis plants.

A 31-year-old man from Potters Bar in Hertfordshire, a 30-year-old man from Hatfield in Hertfordshire and 26-year-old man from Chelmsford, Essex were all arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

A 65-year-old man from Hatfield was arrested yesterday, on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and taken to Bury Police Investigation Centre.

All four men have been released on bail due to return to Bury Police Investigation Centre on Wednesday 3 October while officers continue with their enquiries.

Two men jailed for attempting to smuggle more than one million pounds worth of cannabis

Two lorry drivers who attempted to smuggle cannabis worth an estimated £1,350,000 through the Port of Harwich have been jailed today.

Dutchman John Lutjeboer, 29, and Eugeniusz Klepacki, 50, from Poland had both been convicted of importing a class B drug after a two week trial at Ipswich Crown Court.

Klepacki was jailed for four and a half years and Lutjeboer was jailed for four years.
