30 schoolchildren involved in bus crash

Thirty schoolchildren were among those involved in a collision between a car and a bus near Huntingdon.

Fire crews from Huntingdon and Ramsey attended the accident near the village of Bury.

None of the children were hurt but one man was taken to hospital after receiving first aid at the scene.

There are long delays on the M11 in Essex tonight after a lorry full of glue overturned closing the road in both directions between J7 A414 / B1393 (Harlow) and J8 A120 / B1256 (Stansted Airport / Bishops Stortford), with congestion on Northbound to J6 M25.

Essex Police say that people near the scene must stay in their vehicles as the fumes are hazardous to health. The road is likely to remain closed late into tonight


Driver seriously injured in Corby crash

Road closed for several hours in Corby, Northamptonshire

A driver's been seriously injured in a crash on one of the main roads through Corby, Northamptonshire.

Weldon Road was shut for several hours following the incident just before 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.

The 38-year-old man is being treated in hospital. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Gas tanker crashes on A14

A tanker carrying 4,200 litres of argon gas and 1,000 litres of CO2 has been involved in a crash with two other vehicles on the A14. The accident happened at the Catthorpe junction with the M1 at around 8.40 this morning. Emergency services were called, the road remains closed.

Specialist hazard teams were called, but as the gases are not a danger to the environment they are being allowed to vent naturally.


Appeal for witnesses after two fatal collisions

Police in Essex are appealing for witnesses after two fatal collisions on Friday. A male driver, believed to be in his 30s and from Chelmsford, died after his silver Citroen Xsara was in collision with a silver Volkswagen Caddy just before 6.45pm on the A414 Ongar Road in Writtle.

The female driver of the van suffered serious leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. In the second collision in Buckhurst Hill a motorbike rider in his 20s died at the scene.

His blue Yamaha was in collision with a black Renault Trafic van outside Monkhams public house, at about 9.50pm. A 33-year-old man from Romford was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and released on bail.

Investigation after car crashes into Norwich store

Police in Norwich are investigating after a car crashed into a wall of the city's John Lewis store in earlier this morning.

Officers were called to All Saints Green shortly before 7am following reports of a collision involving a blue BMW 3 Series opposite Mecca Bingo.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and enquiries to locate the motorist are ongoing.

The car was recovered shortly after 8am and the store remains open as normal.
