Police has confirmed it has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct over its handling of an incident where a man allegedly froze to death in Suffolk.
It's believed he was found dead sixteen hours after police were alerted that he had been seen outside a house on Priors Close in Lowestoft.
We can confirm we were called to an incident where the body of a male in his 50s was discovered outside a property on Priors Close in Lowestoft on Thursday 28 December.
A call was also made to police from a member of the public on Wednesday 27 December when concern was raised for the man’s welfare. Suffolk Constabulary can confirm it has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who will conduct an independent investigation.

We have begun an independent investigation following the death of man in Lowestoft on 28 December 2017. The matter was referred to us because previous concerns for the man’s welfare had been raised with Suffolk Police. Our investigation will examine the call handling and police response to these calls.
The East of England Ambulance service is also investigating the case
Police investigating the death of a woman, whose body was found in undergrowth in Houghton Regis have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
The body of Sharon Fade, 45, from Houghton Regis, was discovered by on Tuesday afternoon.
An investigation has been launched by the Beds, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.
The police say they are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and are following a number of lines of enquiry and are keen to hear from anyone who saw Sharon Fade in the days before her body was found.
She was last seen wearing light coloured leggings, with a dark pattern, a light coloured t-shirt, a black leather jacket and blue, red and white Nike trainers.
She may also have been carrying a black Nike shoulder bag,
The man under arrest is being held at Luton Police Station.

A second arrest has been made after a man was stabbed to death at St Oysth in Essex.
Police were called shortly before 4.45am this morning after reports that a 23-year-old man had been stabbed in Rochford Road.
He was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.
A 35-year-old man from London is the second person arrested on suspicion of murder following the arrest of a 29 year old woman from Clacton.
Two men have appeared at Luton Crown Court and denied the murder of a teenager who was shot at a house in Milton Keynes.
But one of them, Mohamed Noor, 33 has entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Noor and Albert Prempeh, aged 35, both of Milton Keynes, will stand trial for the murder of Suhaib Mohammed, in March next year.
The 19 year old victim died shortly after he was shot at a house in Osprey Close, Milton Keynes in September.
The two accused appeared over video links today (Friday) from the two prisons where they are being held on remand.
They were both remanded in custody.
A U.S. Air Force Airman from the 48th Fighter Wing has been found dead in Suffolk.
His body was discovered in off the base housing close to RAF Lakenheath.
The cause of death is currently under investigation.

Police in Essex have referred the death of a man following police contact to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
A 44 year old man was arrested on suspicion of grooming on 28 May 2016 and subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
On Tuesday police were called by paramedics to an address in Harlow.
Officers entered the property and found a 44 year old man who was declared dead.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

Police investigating the death of a seven-year-old girl in Burgh St Peter say a post mortem has established the provisional cause of death as drowning and further tests are being carried out to obtain a definitive cause of death.
Officers are working with South Norfolk District Council to try and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident at a swimming pool at Waveney River Centre, near Beccles, on May 1st.
Bedfordshire Police have confirmed the police watchdog the IPCC have been informed after a man died in Bedford.
It happened at lunchtime today (Wednesday) on the town's Midland Road.
Officers gave first aid at the scene and the ambulance service also attended, but were unable to save the man.
