Man remanded in court over murder of dog walker

A man charged with murdering an elderly dog walker has been remanded in custody ahead of a trial next year.

23 year old Alexander Palmer from Cringleford appeared at Norwich Crown Court by video-link from Norwich Prison. He appeared sitting beside a prison officer, wearing a yellow and green tracksuit.

Peter Wrighton, who was 83 and from Banham, was repeatedly stabbed in the neck and head.

Palmer, who spoke only to confirm his details was remanded in custody ahead of a provisional trial in February 2018.

More than a dozen members of the public attended the hearing, which was moved to a larger courtroom to accommodate them.

A man has appeared in court, via video-link, charged with murdering a grandfather as he walked his dogs in East Harling.

Peter Wrighton, who was 83 and from Banham, was repeatedly stabbed in the neck and head.

23 year old Alexander Palmer from Cringleford appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court by video-link from custody at Norfolk Police HQ in Wymondham.

He wore a blue jumper and dark trousers, and appeared unshaven with close-cropped dark hair as he sat in a plastic chair. He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and to state his address as Cringleford.

No pleas were taken and he was remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday 15th August.
