A man who tried to make his own fireworks has been arrested on suspicion of possessing explosives.
The 48-year-old of Canvey Island, Essex, was arrested after officers carried out an "assessment of the scene" at his home.
Chief Inspector Glen Westley of Castle Point police said there is no threat to the public or any links to terrorism.
He said: "We do not believe it is a terrorism incident. We think he has been trying to make his own fireworks."
The man is in custody awaiting questioning.
