Bedford Free School is appealing to a government planning inspector today, in the hope that the school will be given official sanction to remain open.

The new school opened earlier this month despite being denied planning permission by Bedford Borough Council.

The planning inspector is expected to make a decision within a week. If the school's bid is rejected, it risks being evicted from its current premises.
