A pedestrian has been killed in Essex after he was hit by a number of vehicles early this morning.
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was walking along the A12's northbound carriageway between Boreham and Hatfield Peverel when he was hit.
It led to the road being shut for much of this morning's rush hour while police carried out their investigations. The road was eventually reopened just before 11 o'clock.
One lane blocked and delays due to a broken down vehicle and recovery work on A12 London bound between J20A B1137 (Hatfield Peverel) and J19 A130 (Boreham Interchange / Chelmsford).
About seventy dairy farmers turned out in Essex last night in protest against price cuts.
It took place in Hatfield Peverel outside the factory belonging to milk producer Arla.
The farmers argue the recent 2 pence per litre cut in the price they are paid will drive many out of business.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the Hatfield Peverel area of Essex this evening (21 May) after a bridge over the A12 was damaged during a crash.
The southbound carriageway is closed after a digger that was being carried by a lorry hit the bridge by the Wellington Pub at about 5pm. No-one was injured.
There are long delays towards London. Police say it could take some hours to remove the digger from the road.
The bridge at junction 20B has also been closed for safety reasons.
